Mother's Day

After being able to witness all that Rachel does as a mother, it makes me realize that one day of celebration and thanks just isn't enough. We might have to celebrate Mother's Day once a month from now on. Seeing Alexa's reaction when Rachel comes into view is just one of the things that makes me happy with my choice for a wife. Seeing your child genuinely happy is a great feeling. Our celebration was on May 10th this year and it is a great reason to get together with extended family. Each visit provides Alexa with a chance to play with other babies, ranging in age from 8 months to almost 4 years old. She is much more tame now, she doesn't even try to strong-arm other kids.

First Word

Yes - she has said her first word!

And,
the
winner
is....

Momma!

Yep, it's Momma. Now granted she has said that over and over for a few months, but this week she actually said it and pointed at me!! It was so cute! She even raised her arms up for me to pick her up and she said it right as I was bending down to get her.

She's also trying to say Dadda, so that may be next. Will keep you posted!

Bananas

Alexa likes bananas, although you couldn't tell from her expression in this picture.

Alexa's First Birthday

Alexa turned 1 year old on April 30th, but as many of you know, we started celebrating at the beginning of the month with her birthday party at her Papa's and Mimi's house.

Cory and I decided that we were going to throw her another party for Cory's other side of the family as well as my family and our friends.

I wanted to create an invitation I thought Alexa would enjoy looking back on. I knew I wanted to do a little "model" shoot and dress Alexa up, but I didn't know what I wanted her to wear until Eleni and I found a pink boa and a cute little crown. My mom helped me take pictures and the rest is history...

It came out so good! I loved it!

The party was an absolute blast! Granted, we were running quite late getting ready. This is the first party I actually organized all by my lonesome -which is huge! Anyone who knows me is aware that hosting is not my strong suit at all. I decided cupcakes would be super cute with Alexa having the biggest one of all with every one enjoying regular sized cupcakes or mini cupcakes. My mom did an awesome job baking all of them. We were still icing them when the first few guests arrived - it was a little hectic!

We had such a great time though. Most of our family and friends were able to make it. We had about 6 kids that were coming and I was praying for good weather. It had been raining all week and I was praying that it would be sunny so the back yard could dry up for the kids to let loose - but no luck. It didn't rain the day of, but man it didn't stop until early that morning. So, it was still muddy which meant all kids needed to stay inside. They enjoyed playing with Alexa's toys, so it ended up being fine.

Thank you every one that could attend. It was a special day and I can't wait to show Alexa the pictures of all the people that came to celebrate her first birthday. What a special day.

Here are some pics. Enjoy!

The calm before the storm. See Alexa's cupcake in the middle?

Alexa playing with her cousin Jack and Nina enjoying one of Alexa's toys.

This, is an orange ball...

My aunt Ruthie gave Alexa the cutest Princess sash.
She was a true Princess waiting patiently to open her gifts...

Alexa, you read that one and I will check this one out...

Jackson was helper of the day!
He gave me each and every gift to open so I wouldn't have to get up. So sweet!

Every girl needs a purse and this is her first one!

Alexa sat on my lap while I opened gifts...and there was a lot to open!
She did so well! Not once did she try to get out of my lap.

Room shot...

Another view...

Birthday cake time!

It took a long time for her to even taste the icing or cake.
I decided I wasn't going to wait any longer...

You can see the damage she did before she even attempted to taste it!

Finally a hand in the mouth!!

Get me out of here! She cried crocodile tears for a couple of minutes 'til I picked her up.

Summer and Jackson - he's gotten so big!

Uncle Delgagos and Aimee with Alexa's future BFF - due in August!

Meemaw and Papaw

Eleni - almost the last one to leave.
We already took Alexa out of her birthday dress...

Didn't fall asleep until the last guest left. Like a true Princess...

Chillin' after bath time, right before bed.
What a day! Such a blessing.

Alexa's First Easter!

Okay, so I know this was a month ago, but we didn't forget about our blog. We've had a very busy month with Easter, her birthday (yes! Alexa turned 1!), and just keeping up with friends and family. So we will be playing catch up in the next couple of weeks.

So we had a wonderful Easter with family. The day started out a little chilly (Alexa sported her leg warmers), but then the day warmed up very nicely. All the kids had a great time hunting for egss with their baskets. We had such a blast. Enjoy the pics!

These two...

Mommas and babies...

Good thing Alexa didn't notice...

Phew, that was hard work!

Ahh, the fruits of our labor...

How we spent the rest of the afternoon.
Good times...

One of my favorites

I love this picture. She is standing in her favorite little pink chair, I called her name from behind her, and she whipped around. I took the picture and knew I had a good one.

Meow?

We have had our black cat for about 8 years. We also have another cat and an ankle-biter chihuahua. We wondered how all the animals would do once there was a baby in the house, and we have been very pleased with how well everyone gets along. Alexa usually has all of her toys strewn across the floor. Alexa thinks the black cat is just another toy or soft piece of furniture.
